Anthurium pot plants and cut flowers

Every innovation begins with an initial spark of inspiration, and so does the development of a new Anthurium pot plant. Our breeding department creates new varieties with unique characteristics aimed at the consumer of the future.

Anthurium pot plants

The single plug PP1S (10 weeks) is the youngest and therefore the smallest plant we offer. The PP1S is only supplied to Dutch customers to pot up in very small pots, such as the 7 cm and 9 cm pot.

In addition to the PP1S plug, we sell the PP1L plug (3 months). This is a small plug of good quality. This plug is suitable for further cultivation in various pot sizes such as the 12 cm pot and for export, as it is robust and strong. Thanks to the small size, shipping costs are low.

At our Anthurium production site, PP1S plugs are also used to make 6PP2 (5 months) and 7PP2 article types (6 months). As a result, a suitable plug or pot is available for every pot size at the grower's facility.

Potting two PP1S plugs into a 6 cm or 7 cm pot is fully automated. The great advantage of starting with two plants in one pot is that a full, bushy plant with many flowers can soon be grown, since both plugs produce cuttings and flowers. After nine months, the plant (9 cm pot) is ready to be sold to consumers.

Research

In our Research Centre we are passionate about embracing the rapid developments in plant sciences, cultivation techniques and digitization. We find this tremendously interesting and we work at the cutting edge of the industry with passion and enthusiasm. The Anthurium is not a model plant, which means we have to figure out a lot for ourselves. Using applied research, we focus on improving the properties and cultivation method of Anthurium. This is clearly reflected in our brilliant varieties.

Breeding

Breeding Anthurium is a lengthy process in which the highest achievable quality is the gold standard. This part of the process takes seven to eight years. Cross-breeding is done in our large breeding greenhouse and only the best seedlings are selected and cloned, after which they are extensively tested and inspected.

Propagation

Our laboratories in China, Northern Macedonia and the Netherlands guarantee flexibility when it comes to propagating our planting material. Our global presence ensures risk diversification and delivery reliability to our own production facilities, which are located in Germany, China and the Netherlands. After years of thorough testing and selection, a potential variety is propagated in our own laboratories.

Young plants

In a nearly 30-acre state-of-the-art greenhouse, the Anthurium plants from the laboratory continue to grow. Our cultivation method is innovative and energy-conscious. The greenhouse complex in Bleiswijk is equipped with a fully automated logistics system, assimilation lighting and humidifiers to guarantee optimal climate conditions. Our new automation systems also give us better vision technology with smart software. This allows us to analyze growth, which at the same time provides information for use in improved planning.

Show greenhouse

Growers have the opportunity to evaluate the most promising Anthurium, Bromeliad and Phalaenopsis varieties in our show greenhouse. These new varieties are taken directly from the breeding facility to the show greenhouse. This offers our customers a unique opportunity to co-select their future assortment at an early stage.

Sale

The expertise of our Anthurium account managers focuses specifically on Anthurium to best serve our customers around the world. Each account manager is responsible for his or her specific region. They maintain daily contact and regularly visit their clients at home and abroad. Naturally, we also welcome our customers to Bleiswijk. This personalized approach prioritizes the customer's needs.
